Missions and Outreach

What we do to further Christ’s commission to love and support others.

Many people find a connection to God through serving their neighbors. We definitely believe in that here at EGCC! There are so many ways to get involved in making the world a better place – from the food pantry, to visiting the homebound, to youth mission trips and everything in between.

We dedicate 10% of our annual budget to Mission and Service Projects. Here are just a few of the ways we give!

We Work Locally

EGCC supports many local service organizations, including:

Hosting East Granby’s Friend-to-Friend Food Pantry and maintaining a garden to provide fresh vegetables for the Food Pantry.
Donating to EG Social Services Back to School supplies, and support for local tragedies.
Our members generously make Christmas special for local families through our own Giving Tree, and the Granby Adopt-a-family program. We also have a Christmas pageant for any local children who wish to participate.
Providing space and financial support for the EGCC Preschool.
Providing drinking water and a cheering squad at the East Granby Women’s Club Ridge run.

We Serve Regionally

We also support regional missions and community outreach, including:

Hosting a monthly Red Cross Blood Drive, and weekly meetings of several AA groups.
Providing scholarship funds, leadership, and volunteer support to Heads Up! Hartford (a regional service summer camp for teens), and Silver Lake Camp and Retreat Center for youth.
Donating to Hartford-based Center for Leadership and Justice, North Central CT Network for Domestic Abuse, and the UCC’s Neighbors in Need offering.

We Give Across the Country and Around the World

EGCC participates and contributes to several national and global missions and outreach efforts, including:

Contributing financially to charities to support various immediate needs such as the Kentucky flood relief and Florida hurricane relief programs.
Contributing financially to humanitarian relief in Ukraine.
Supporting the Appalachian Service Project with donations, and mulit-generational service teams.
Our Church School includes an annual fundraiser for the children to learn about service to other parts of the world.
Our members make Christmas donations to Church World Services for livestock, blankets, tools, seeds, water filters and more to families in need across the globe.
