The "Take-Home" Prayer
Dear
God, I praise You and thank You that You choose to be known, reflected, and
revealed in every time and place. I
acknowledge that I do not always see how You are at work in the world or sense
how You are at work in me. I have filled
my mind and heart with ways and patterns that separate me from You, from
others, and from the truth of who I am in You. Help me to know more fully these
voices that tempt me, that pull me from You, others, and the truth of who I am
in You. What are the ways and patterns
in which I live, think, and move that keep me from You? (give some time for
silence, and write down what comes).
God, I need Your help. I choose
in this time to turn away from life without You, from holding onto ideas,
patterns, and more that keep me from You and the truth of who I am. I turn to follow Jesus more fully into Your
new life. I open myself to You, to listen in Your presence, seeking to know who
I am in You, to embody Your gift of new life this day, and know how I can be
Your gift to others (take some time to be silent, to receive God’s presence,
words, ideas, images, etc. -- 15 minutes
or so). I thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
